Futility

I cry to God and fall to earth.
Flay flay flay
Still
I am human.
The work it takes to free my soul and follow my spirit
Is more than this measly human can bear
Sometimes
When I just want a smoke and a drink

It is because we are human that we need the divine.
It is because we are human that those bits of heaven, those glimpses of God we catch out of the corner of our eye matter.
It is because we are human that our struggles matter.

And if we fall, we can rise again and redouble the effort.
And if we fall, forgiveness is readily available without question. And if we fall we do not fall alone others greater than us have fallen before and God was there with grace in equanimity.
